SiM Claire eKYC Policy
Last Updated: March 8, 2026
1. What is eKYC?
eKYC stands for Electronic Know Your Customer. It is a digital process used to verify your identity. While most travel eSIMs can be purchased instantly, certain countries have strict national regulations and security measures that require us to verify the identity of the person using the network.
2. When is eKYC Required?
Not all SiM Claire eSIMs require verification. You will only be asked to complete an eKYC check if:
- The governing country of your destination requires user registration by law.
- The specific local network provider mandates identity verification to activate the service.
How to check: Before you purchase, look for the "Identity Verification Required" badge or check the "Additional Information" section of your chosen eSIM plan.
3. The Verification Process
We have made our eKYC process paperless, remote, and fast. To complete your verification, you will typically need:
- A Digital ID Scan: A clear photo of your valid Passport, National ID, or Driver’s License (requirements vary by country).
- Speed: Most checks are completed within minutes, though some regional authorities may take up to 24–48 hours.
Pro-Tip: We recommend completing your eKYC check at least 3 days before your departure to ensure your data is ready the moment you land.
4. Data Privacy & Security
Your identity documents are treated with the highest level of security:
- Encryption: All uploaded documents are encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Limited Use: Your ID is used strictly for compliance with local telecommunications laws.
- No Marketing Use: SiM Claire will never use your eKYC documents for marketing or profiling purposes.
- Retention: We only store this data for as long as required by the destination country's regulations.
5. Why is this necessary?
Governing bodies require eKYC to:
- Prevent the fraudulent use of telecommunication services.
- Ensure national security and comply with local anti-money laundering (AML) laws.
- Maintain a secure and reliable network for all travelers.
6. Need Help?
If your eKYC verification is rejected or taking longer than expected, it may be due to image quality (e.g., glare on the ID or cropped edges). Please reach out to our support team for immediate assistance:
