Installation & Activation
Step-by-step guides for QR code and manual installations.
We recommend installing your SiM Claire before departure while connected to a stable Wi-Fi network. Alternatively, if you want to install it after departure, you can install it after landing in your destination using airport Wi-Fi whichever is more convenient. Important: Installing the eSIM does not activate your plan You can install the eSIM in advance and keep it disabled until you're ready to use it. Your plan activates only when you connect to a supported network at your destination When you land:
1. Switch on your SiM Claire eSIM
2. Enable data roaming for your SiM Claire eSIM in your device settings
3. Select your SiM Claire eSIM as the preferred SIM for data usage
4. You'll be connected automatically!
To ensure a smooth setup process, we recommend installing your eSIM before your departure, as installation requires a stable Internet connection. However, if you prefer, you can wait until you arrive in the country to activate your eSIM using WIFI. Before You Travel Make sure you're connected to a stable Wi-Fi network. You have two options to install your eSIM on iPhone: Option 1: Install via Click-to-Install
1. Open the QR code you received on your SiM Claire web app.
2. Tap the Click to Install link (works only on the phone you're installing on)
3. If you don't see the options & are using Safari browser: i. Hard-press (long press) the QR code ii. Tap "Add eSIM" from the pop-up menu
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation
5. Your eSIM will appear under Mobile Data > SIMs Option 2: Install via QR Code
6. Go to Settings > Mobile Data (or Cellular) > Add eSIM
7. Tap Use QR Code
8. Scan the QR code sent to your registered email address
9. Tap Add Cellular Plan when prompted
10. Label the plan as SiM Claire for easy recognition Your eSIM is now installed, but not yet active.
11. You can switch off your eSIM for now and turn it on when you land Installation of eSIM does not activate your plan. It only activates when you connect to a supported network at your destination.
Setting Up APN on iPhone (if required): Most SiM Claire eSIMs automatically configure the APN. But if your APN is not configured automatically, you can set it manually: Steps to Manually Set APN on iPhone:
1. Open Settings > Mobile Data > Mobile Data Network
2. Under Mobile Data, enter: APN: globaldata Leave Username and Password blank
3. Scroll down to LTE Setup (Optional) (if visible) and enter: APN: globaldata
4. Exit the settings (your changes are saved automatically)
5. Restart your iPhone or toggle Airplane Mode off and on to apply the new settings
Install via QR Code:
1. Once you have purchased your eSIM, you will be provided a QR Code.
2. Kindly take a screenshot of the QR Code. (if accessing via desktop website, then skip this step and proceed to the next)
3. Open Settings
4. Go to Network & Internet (or Connections) -> SIM Manager or Mobile Network
5. Tap Add eSIM' or Download SIM'
6. Choose Scan QR Code via camera or select from Gallery
7. At the bottom right, you will be shown an icon for Gallery. Kindly click on that and select the screenshot shot image saved in the previous step.
8. Scan the QR code sent to your registered email address (if accessing via desktop website)
9. Follow the On-Screen prompts. Your device will download and install the eSIM profile automatically
Setting Up APN on Android (if required): Most SiM Claire eSIMs automatically configure the APN. But if it is not configured automatically, follow these steps to set it manually: Steps to Manually Set APN:
1. Go to Settings
2. Tap on Network & Internet (or Connections or Mobile Network, depending on your device)
3. Select Mobile Network > Access Point Names (APN). Please make sure you are selecting the APN configurations for your SiM Claire eSIM.
4. If there's no APN listed, tap Add New APN (or + icon)
5. Enter the following details: Name: SiM Claire APN: globaldata Username: (leave blank) Password: (leave blank) MMSC: (leave blank, if not required) MMS Proxy: (leave blank, if not required) MMS Port: (leave blank, if not required) MCC: (auto-fill, don't change) MNC: (auto-fill, don't change) Authentication type: (set to None) APN type: default, mms, supl APN protocol: IPv4/IPv6
6. Tap Save to store the APN settings. Optional - LTE Settings (If Required) If your device has an LTE section, repeat the same APN configuration (globaldata) under LTE APN.
Before you begin: Make sure you are connected to a stable Wi-Fi network. Have your SiM Claire eSIM QR code ready (from email or SiM Claire website). Do not delete the eSIM after installation unless necessary it can only be reinstalled a limited number of times on the same device. Steps:
1. Open Settings: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs
2. Tap 'Add SIM': Set up your eSIM
3. Use QR Code: Choose 'Use a different network' (if prompted), then tap Next and select Scan QR code (You may be asked to allow camera access)
4. Scan Your QR Code: Point your camera at the SiM Claire QR code. Once detected, tap Download or Activate (wording may vary slightly). You may also upload the QR code image from photos.
5. Label the eSIM: You can name the eSIM SiM Claire to make it easier to identify.
6. Install Complete: Your eSIM is now installed but not yet active.
Setting Up APN on Google Pixel (if required): SiM Claire eSIMs typically auto-configure APN settings. However, if your mobile data isn't working after installation, you can manually update the APN: Steps to Manually Set APN on Pixel:
1. Go to: Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile Network
2. Tap on the SiM Claire eSIM
3. Select Advanced > Access Point Names (APN)
4. Tap + (Add) or New APN Enter the following details: Name: SiM Claire APN: globaldata Username: (leave blank) Password: (leave blank)
5. If you see LTE APN or MMS settings, enter globaldata there as well.
6. Save the APN (usually via 3-dot menu)
7. Select the newly created APN to activate it
8. Restart your phone or toggle Airplane Mode ON and OFF to apply settings
ICCID stands for Integrated Circuit Card Identifier. It's a unique 1920 digit number assigned to every SIM or eSIM profile. The ICCID is used to: Identify your SIM/eSIM profile Help mobile networks recognize and activate your connection Track and manage your plan internally You might be asked to share your ICCID if you're facing activation or connectivity issues.
